Nancy’s Art at Art Gallery of Alberta (Art Rental)

For more than 60 years, the Art Gallery of Alberta has run the Art Sales and Rental program, enabling the public to have art in their homes and offices at a reasonable cost. Nancy is one of the featured artists by AGA. Here’s a gallery display of some her work.

Good things happen

When a person plays with and responds to colors and lines with their own feelings, good things happen. We become right in tune with our own self. I took a course from Nancy and that is what happened. She mentored me as well as an artist on the ward volunteer at the University of Alberta Hospital as well.

I continue to play and enjoy! Stress recedes. Just let yourself flow.

I felt compelled for Nancy’s support

After reviewing Nancy’s thesis, “A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Sensing of Beauty”(2020), I felt compelled to ask her for support in my less formal project called “Between the Lines: Merging Portraits
and Stories of Older Adults”. I knew from my nursing and art experience that this was the best approach to facilitate authentic experiences from my sitters.

Nancy understood what I was aiming for and provided timely support by sharing some of her experience and suggesting ways forward with my work. She is an active listener and thoughtful in responding.

Working with Nancy on her MA Thesis, Drawing on Life Stories: A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Sensing of Beauty was an exercise in shaping sensation into words. She earnestly follows a line even as she draws it, and with her thesis, she shares the lived experience of valuing process over result. For her, the process is about noticing. About sensing. She equates beauty with something that nurtures humanness. Spend some time with her thesis and her art. You’ll find yourself, with her, on the edge of discovery.
