She is the lived experience of process over result
Working with Nancy on her MA Thesis, Drawing on Life Stories: A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Sensing of Beauty was an exercise in shaping sensation into words. She earnestly follows a line even as she draws it, and with her thesis, she shares the lived experience of valuing process over result. For her, the process is about noticing. About sensing. She equates beauty with something that nurtures humanness. Spend some time with her thesis and her art. You’ll find yourself, with her, on the edge of discovery.
I felt compelled for Nancy’s support
After reviewing Nancy’s thesis, “A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Sensing of Beauty”(2020), I felt compelled to ask her for support in my less formal project called “Between the Lines: Merging Portraits
and Stories of Older Adults”. I knew from my nursing and art experience that this was the best approach to facilitate authentic experiences from my sitters.
Nancy understood what I was aiming for and provided timely support by sharing some of her experience and suggesting ways forward with my work. She is an active listener and thoughtful in responding.
Masterful!
Nancy and I have trained together for many years in Expressive Arts through World Arts Organization. She is masterful at co-creating new growth through her always present wisdom, kindness, and poetic nature. Her art courses helped me to expand my painting skills, my awareness, and my creativity.
