Stepping into the next season, just like the sunflowers that are in my home – they come and they go. And they are like autumn – aut, tumn. It’s like an ought to, or automatic. To play on this word: whether we want to or not, we ought to get into autumn. Like our footprints, we leave a mark, moment to moment that goes forward because time is automatic. Whether we ought to or not, ready or not, here it comes! And it’s always that time of warmth, anticipation, preparation and abundance.
It’s abstract before every season because we know not what lies ahead.
What’s beautiful is how we allow ourselves to take in whatever we had no choice to be in.
Abstract is being in wonder about everything around us, texture, colours, shapes.
Stand up, close your eyes. Then start to turn your body around, in one direction and then another.
Lie down, reach your arms out from side to side.
Breathe in, the smells. Bring them to you, the scents of autumn.
Imagine that you could smell a cityscape, water… what would it feel like?
What vision and colours? Before you know it, step by step, it is another coming, one of warmth.
Wrap your arms around yourself, hug yourself with the warm of autumn.
In autumn, the Earth colours, like the Group of Seven Canadian painters inspired and sparked by the yellows of aspen trees.
Red for fire, brown for Earth, blue for air and water. Each that carry together, come to the horizon, the sun rising in the setting, the dawn of the new time.
We are each a part of this change. We are each a part of this animation, we are that moving into another.
Animate, animate this season. Walk into its mystic. You are the mystic.
